"The Richard" is named after the friend who wanted something a little different. Something unique & special, but still classic & proud. I made him this chessboard out of Purple Heart hardwood, which is naturally a deep, rich, mesmerizing purple colour.
 
The raised playing area reveals more beauty, casts soft shadows, and merits the addition of beautiful yet structural accents on the frame corners and edges.
