"The Caixa" is a premium quality, craftsman-made wooden chess box with engraved notation for your chess study. Designed to subtly complement any classic chess set, this competition style, tournament quality chess board is our very own luxury design.

Caixa (pronounced kah-sha) is the Portuguese word for "box", so-named because it showcases exotic and desirable Brazilian Cherry hardwood natively called "Jatoba". This chess box was originally a custom order which allowed me to use this amazing material for the very first time. This box is designed to highlight the natural depth and richness of the wood, while using intricate joinery to give it structure, strength, and durability.

I started making premium competition-sized chess boards for my friends and loved ones because it seemed like nobody was doing them right. Every other board was made from false wood, or was too small, or even too fancy. Nowhere was there a beautiful, solid hardwood, competition-sized chess board that wasn't too full of itself.

SIZE OF SQUARES: 2 1/4" or 2 1/2" | (57mm or 63mm)
NOTE:  2 1/2" (63mm) squares are "XL" and are larger than the FIDE Regulation limits

PRODUCTION TIME: I start cutting wood 48 hours after your order is placed. Due to the intricacy of the joinery in this box, and my dedication to quality, it takes me between 4-5 weeks until the last coat of finish dries. Trust me, this is worth it.
