Caixa (pronounced kah-sha) is the Portuguese word for "box", so-named because it showcases exotic and desirable Brazilian Cherry hardwood natively called "Jatoba". This chess box was originally a custom order which allowed me to use this amazing material for the very first time. This box is designed to highlight the natural depth and richness of the wood, while using intricate joinery to give it structure, strength, and durability.

I started making premium competition-sized chess boards for my friends and loved ones because it seemed like nobody was doing them right. Every other board was made from false wood, or was too small, or even too fancy. Nowhere was there a beautiful, solid hardwood, competition-sized chess board that wasn't too full of itself.
