"The Stefan" is a premium quality, craftsman-made wooden chess board with engraved notation for your chess study. Designed to subtly complement any classic chess set, this competition style, tournament quality chess board is our very own luxury design.

My friend Stefan wanted something classic, clean, sharp, and perfect for studying chess. I made him this chessboard out of Walnut & Maple hardwood, which contrast so perfectly it's hard to imagine any other combination (but we have many!) Both woods are naturally rich and carry unique grain patterns that swirl and shimmer in the light. The thin maple trim around the playing area makes the board really pop. Up close, you will wonder how we even got it in there.

I started making premium competition-sized chess boards for my friends and loved ones because it seemed like nobody was doing them right. Every other board was made from false wood, or was too small, or even too fancy. Nowhere was there a beautiful, solid hardwood, competition-sized chess board that wasn't too full of itself.
